ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONISM
Helen Betz has resided in Bonney Lake, Washington since 2014. She works in Acrylics, Mixed Media, Photography and Sculpture. Her paintings for the most can be categorized as Abstract Expressionism in that she searches for new and unique ways to communicate concepts and feelings.
Her sculpture "Tribute to Student Life" stands on the campus of the University of Pacific just outside Hand Hall. Her etchings "Two Angels" hang at Central Methodist Church. She has had shows at the Tidewater Gallery, the Sheraton Waterfront Hotel, Mezzo Restaurant, Lodi Public Library, and other venues in the area. The Sacramento Center for Fine Arts honored her with awards for her collage "Perspective" and photograph "Alaska Waters" in 2008. The Haggin Museum exhibited "Vigil to Maintain Freedom" at their September-November show in 2008.
Helen Betz earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree at California State University at Long Beach in 1964 after transferring from the University of Illinois, Champagne Urbana; her Teaching Credential at California State University at Hayward 1965 and her Master's Degree at University of the Pacific in 1985. After teaching in the Stockton Unified School District, she retired and began teaching at Delta College. In addition, she also presently teaches a comprehensive program at New Directions. She currently exhibits her work at the Petroglyphe Gallery in Mokelumne Hill, California. Helen is available for commissions.
